All about the new Twitter Like Button!
Twitter’s enigmatic star-shaped “Favorite” button allowed it to stand apart from Facebook’s “Likes” Tumblr’s and Instagram’s heart-shaped buttons.
But as of 03/11/2015 Twitter has decided not to stand apart from the crowd. Its users saw the unceremonious removal of the STAR button which has been replaced by a HEART that turns red when someone hovers their mouse over it: plus and alt-text appears reading “like” before someone clicks it. But when someone clicks it, it pulses slightly before settling into a permanent red hue.
Twitter has made this change to make it more user-friendly. “You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite,” Twitter said in a blog post on Tuesday. “We know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers.”
The heart on the other hand is more expressive and a universal symbol the company said.
